I'm A Verbal Assassin

Robert T. Davenport 1979 (Newark, New Jersey)

I’m A Verbal Assassin
By Robert T. Davenport

In the realm of words, I hold my might,
A verbal assassin, poised for the fight,
With a silver tongue, sharp as a blade,
I weave my verses, a deadly cascade.

My words are weapons, honed to perfection,
Each syllable aimed with deadly direction,
I strike with precision, no room for remorse,
Leaving my victims silenced, their voices hoarse.

I dance with language, a lethal ballet,
Crafting my verses, in a wicked display,
With every stanza, I take careful aim,
Targeting hearts, igniting the flame.

I dissect emotions, with surgical skill,
Unleashing my arsenal, with a poet's thrill,
I pierce through defenses, shatter illusions,
Leaving my victims in poetic contusions.

But amidst the chaos, I seek to reveal,
The power of words, to heal and to seal,
For in my arsenal, lies a gentle touch,
To mend the wounds, that my verses clutch.

I am a verbal assassin, it's true,
But I wield my words, with purpose anew,
To provoke introspection, ignite the mind,
To inspire change, leaving no soul behind.

So fear not my presence, in this poetic game,
For I am a messenger, not just a name,
A verbal assassin, with a mission to impart,
The beauty of words, to heal every heart.
