About this poem
Thank God I will not be hanging around here too much longer…I know I was born in Los Angeles but I don’t think there is any way I’d ever want to live here…It seems as if everything anyone might need is within one’s grasp but in a way I don’t think I’d be the person I am today if I would have grown up here…I still remember where I helped my dad replace the starter in his car at the age of 4 or 5…The old house was still there the last time I visited Redondo Beach…It is a miracle it was not torn down and replaced with condos…For those curious the address is 1714 Huntington Lane in Redondo Beach…I remember when they built General Homer O. Eton Jr.-Parkette nextdoor…My brother Robert and friend Leo made the local paper shooting hoops…Who knows what would have happened if Robert and my sister Melinda would have become “Our Gang” members…Oh well…I wouldn’t want to change a thing… more »
