Petals of A Rose

Vickey Anglin 1954 (Kentucky)

As the rose petals fall
He loves me
He loves me not
He loves me
He loves me not

Rose petals soft to touch
Handled too rough
Melt and bruise
Much like a woman's skin
Where abuse has been

Petals of a rose overcome rough hands
of roughness
Beautiful in full bloom
Fascinating
Sensual
Fragrant with continuity of love
Sweet reward
Roots run deep

This thing of beauty inside and out
A rose
A woman
