Illusions of the Mind

The Illusions of the Mind

I wander through the lonely night
With visions of a phantom light
That lures me to a dreadful fate
Beyond the reach of hope or hate

I hear the whispers of the dead
That fill my soul with doubt and dread
They mock me with their hollow cries
And haunt me with their burning eyes

I feel the touch of spectral hands
That drag me to their darkened lands
Where horrors lurk in every shade
And madness is the price I paid

I see the shapes of fiends and foes
That twist and turn in endless woes
They claim me as their rightful prey
And never let me slip away

I know not if these sights are real
Or if they are the ills I feel
But still I follow where they lead
And suffer for their cruel deed
