Bad Dad

Charles Caudill 1983 (Indiana)

If it were a simple choice,
Between you or me,
I would choose you every time,
But choices are rarely simple,
And there's this fog on my mind.
I have hurt you.
I have put you second.
I haven't always done right.
Even though Ive never hit you,
Even though Ive never touched you,
I have hurt you inside.
I am a bad Dad.
I never wanted to be.
I'm so sorry all the time.
How could I hurt you?
How could I not see?
I love you.
God knows I love you.
Please let this bad Dad,
Make it right.
