Tick tock

One year goes by, tick-tock the tale
One year goes by, my skin grows pale

They say time has a way of healing all wounds
But my mind sees time for what it ruins

Grow green, grow tall- the truth I water
Grow fast, the sap- I seed to sunder

I wave goodbye to an old friend on the lake
His boat has a hole, his last birthday cake

Away, away- a word so abused
The truth left me naked, naked I’m used

Ha ha, laughter- did that come from me
Is sight so blind it cannot see

One year goes by, tick tock the tale
One year goes by, my skin grows pale

About this poem

Time claims another shade with each passing year, how pale will you be?
