Let No One Ever Say...

Let No One Ever Say
(2020)

Let No One ever say
That I died peacefully
I fought…
With every breath and step I took
Every look at stupidity, ignorance, and apathy
I fought with every look.
I took only enough not to explode,
Or implode. The load I carry is the cross I bear,
only to close my eyes at eternity, to ignorance,
to stupidity, and apathy.
Let No One ever say that I died peacefully.

“With a tone of frustration as if someone is trying to explain astrology to you.”

About this poem

I wrote this poem in April of 2020 when an old friend doubted my tenacity and perseverance. We are no longer friends.
