Alone

It all started with a screen,
Black and one there you were.
 My heart was so full,
I never knew love like this.
The happiest moment of my life,
Finally I was going to be a mom.
 Tears flowing from happiness,
Then the words came I didn't want to hear.
Oh let me get the doctor,
I'm sorry ma'am but there's no heartbeat.
 Seeing you on that screen,
Then hearing you were gone.
 A nightmare that was real,
But you looked fine to me.
 I'm sitting here alone,
Wondering what you were.
 My little sweet girl,
With ribbons and bows.
 My precious son,
With fishing poles and guns.
The wondering never stops,
Who would you look like.
 Your dad's heart is shattered,
Mine is gone forever.
You grew right under my heart,
Now I sit here all alone.
I love you more with every breath,
I won't stop until my heart is done beating.
 I'll miss you forever,
My baby you will always be.
 My favorite what if,
My hardest goodbye.
 Now I'm just here,
All alone.
