A mother and a daughter

She is my mother,

I am her daughter,

But we are not mother and daughter,
Not like I see with my friends or in films,
My mother isn’t my best friend,
She isn’t someone I can talk to,
She isn’t someone I feel support from,
She has done a lot for me, don’t get me wrong,

But i am just her daughter,

and she is just my mother.

I fear her when i do something wrong,
Not like I see with my friends or in films
my fear is greater,
Heart pumping, face paler,
I think I am a disappointment,
I think I let her down,
I think she wishes I was different,
Even if she won’t admit it,
I know she dreams of it deep down,
When she is frustrated,
she lets her desires slip,
And reminds “that nothing I do will be good enough”,

for She is my mother,

And I am her daughter,

It will always be that way,
But I wonder if we will ever be mother and daughter ,
Or if I will just drift away.
