Silence

Silence:
Many people say it’s nice,
But in my case,
It’s not a peaceful perfect paradise.

Silence is too loud, yet no sound is made.
It is too alarming, but no words are spoken.
Silence is too painful-
And yet it does nothing.

Silence?
Does not end anything,
the screams and shouts repeatedly ring in my ears.
Silence?
It does not end anything-
Adrenaline and pain continuously run through my veins.

To tell you the truth,
Silence…
does not SILENCE anything!

About this poem

This was the first poem I ever wrote outside of school. I remember waking up from having a flashback dream, and I couldn’t get myself to calm down I had so many thoughts in my head. It was right after the Easter Break and I just had this headache and I couldn’t calm myself down. I ended up writing my first ever draft of the poem “Silence” and that’s when I realized I had a gift for writing. This piece is so special to me, I haven’t published it yet, not even in the poetry collection I published called “broken can be beautiful”.
