Remembering, Mourning

A dream like no other, a realization.
Startled I woke up dreaming,
Trying to get over this dream I have been having .
A chained mind, a loop every time my eyes are resting.
I have tried seeking, tried reaching.
In the end, nothing but failure.
A gaping hole in my heart, a message to reach.
Now I’m afraid.
Phantom touch, soft whispers.
Gentle breeze, a delicate sense.
Days of seeking the other side, I can remember.
A dream to remember, I realized.
It was all right there, oh how could I forget?
I have died a hundred times over, waking up with a fret.
Those eyes in my dreams,
The reason for my haunting.
Now I can’t help but look at them for what we were flaunting.
A connection,
For the moment I seeked
A message,
Forever in the trenches.
Dreaming,
For what we wished to be.
Running,
For what we used to be.
Mourning,
A time when we were free.

About this poem

Remembering a time of happiness and living through your days in nothing but the memory of that happiness. Coming to mourn a time of nothing but contentment, a life which can not be lived through again..

Peri Lune

"The moon rises as the pear tree looms over the grass, giving a sense of peace and safety. Yet a feeling of grief as the peat tree stands there, alone - just like the moon shining down below. A sense of comfort nonetheless." - Peri Lune more…
