It Hurts

It hurts to not remember
But to yearn for but a trace
Of your sweet familiar eyes
On your sweet familiar face

It hurts to know I’m missing something
A thing I can’t quite place
Perhaps it’s your soft loving touch
That’s now just sitting in a vase

It hurts to know you don’t think about me
And never will again
It hurts because I’m starting to feel that way
Because I can’t bare the pain

About this poem

This poem is centered around my process with grief. Though it’s been years since my loss, the passion of my feelings has turned into a dull ache that I get reminded of not often enough.
