An addict mother.

Broken, tired, I really can't explain,

The voices in my head. Am I going insane?

I'm drowning, sinking, can't reach the top.

I just want it to end now, please let it stop.

I've given up thinking you'll change. There's really no hope.

I don't expect you to understand what you've done to us all,

You broke me, betrayed me, lied and then watched me fall.

It started when I was nine, I'm now over twenty,

The opportunities you've had. You've been given plenty.

The poison it's gripped you, and you won't fight back.

You don't want your family, you want heroin and crack.

You want to sit in these drug dens and play with the rats.

Isn't it time to grow up before your time is through?

I can see it now, the black hearse is down the street,

You died from that addiction, the one you couldn't beat.

I can see, as it approaches, the coffin is in the back.

Why couldn't you get help, get off the crack and smack.

There's people stood around me, they're all dressed in black,

You've really done it now, there is no coming back.

Why weren't we enough to make you want to see

That no amount of words will fix what you've done to us three.

The clock is ticking, the reapers lurking in wait.

You get to make your own choices, it's not just down to fate.

I'm numb now, there's another needle in your vein.

No amount of poison will ever numb the pain.

Not for us, not for your family.

If only you knewneed to put a comma before it.---#---If only you knew, if only you could see.---#--- if---#---, if---#---https://www.thoughtco.com/what-is-an-indirect-question-1691162" style="background-color: rgb(254, 228, 129); cursor: pointer; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: "Source Sans Pro", sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial;">, if only you could see.

We're done with the excuses, the lies that you spew.

We can't make you change, that's all down to you.

The trauma taints the memories you leave in your wake,

I promised this addiction would be your biggest mistake.

I know I'm not wrong, you've taken away a mother

And no matter what goes on, we'll never get another

We've clawed at you and begged you for change.

You've watched us cry and still you stay the same, it's strange.

Why can't you do it for us, for your family.

What's it going to take to make you wake up and see?
