I am darkness

Growing up was hard
It was me against my feelings
But you laughed, mocked, and made me feel unworthy
lost in my thoughts
In my insecurities
I was blinded by darkness
That would soon take over
In fact, it has taken over.

Black sheep of the family, that’s what they call me
A useless being begging to fit in
But misunderstood
Where there was little light
Has faded
I am surrounded by darkness
I am darkness

I cannot change
I cannot see light
Until one day I am given light

Till then…
I hide in the shadows
Of another
She has light; it radiates beautifully
She fits in
Her heart is pure
But she was never laughed or mocked at
She was and is the pride of the family
She is their joy, she is their light
And I am their darkness
