greg

Lauren Huettl 2005 (Spokane)

garbage can, piece of trash,
itching and burning, greg has a rash.
greg is 30, he looks 13,
greg is harsh and very mean.

greg likes to clean, he can’t have a mess,
he’s a sore loser, mostly in chess.
he thinks he’s funny, but he is not,
sometimes i think he’s a broken robot.

greg had a dog, his name was finn,
now his dead body’s in a garbage bin.
but who put him there u may ask,
greg did himself, without wearing a mask.

now greg has fleas, because he’s dumb,
finn died alone, his body is numb.
greg looks possessed, it’s freaking me out,
he’s kicking and screaming, i’ve started to shout.

somebody help! greg’s acting real weird,
after only three minutes he’s grown a full beard.
he’s chasing and growling as if he were free,
but he is possessed by his former dog’s flea.

About this poem

This poem was inspired by my mother asking my little brother to take out the trash one day after school. This poem is completely fictional and there is no reasoning behind it as well as the name ‘Greg’.
