Kept Peacefully Discreet

When I was much younger,
Wishing for fame and notoriety.
Because of my diverse skills and talents.
I was told would gain me popularity.
But this I did not want,
For my life to flaunt that way.
Since I thought I had been,
Already blessed and fortunate enough...
To have what I did,
Noticed by my peers.

All I wanted to wish,
Had been of some assistance...
To the ones I knew to be equally as talented.
With a doing to encourage them too!
Then I began to hear,
Others say I was only an opportunist.
Using them to fly higher my own kite.
Doing this to leave them out of my sight.
As if this had been true,
Of what it was I intended to do.

And here it is in the year of 2024.
Not to hear heard words,
About what I have accomplished anymore.
With incentive, motivation and desire kept.
Although...
As rumors go to be told,
Now I live my life...
Kept to keep peacefully discreet.
Without a need to publicly,
Promote what I do or my abilities.
Yet...
The very ones who now say this,
Wish to want it known...
What I have done alone to accomplish,
Could not have been done,
Without their encouragement.
With names to give.
And pictures of themselves with me taken!

I do what I do.
Not to seek fame or notoriety.
If what I do receives attention given?
And I remain an unknown,
Kept peacefully left to live discreetly?
Guess who is the one,
Living to feel blessed?
To do what I do and go anywhere.
Knowing what I have accomplished to do,
Few who see me...
Or believe they know who I am to be,
Still refuse to connect me...
With the abilities I have discreetly achieved.
Leaving me happily to live a life,
As an unknown face amongst a crowd...
Of 'selfie' taking wannabees,
Wishing to want notoriety.
For the giving of image and nothing more!
Than minds to waste.
Storing nonsense to collect.
To accept and believe this for them,
Will someday return a useful benefit!

And these are the times we live!
Assuming the future will forgive,
The time many spend...
On looking as good as possible.
Forever!
Giving image and nothing more to contribute!
