The Uncomfortable Truth

The Uncomfortable Truth
By Robert T. Davenport

In the realm of truth, there lies a discomfort,
A raw and unsettling feeling, difficult to confront.
For the truth, my friend, is a mirror so clear,
Reflecting our flaws, our insecurities, our fear.

When the uncomfortable truth comes knocking at our door,
We often shy away, seeking solace in ignorance once more.
It challenges our beliefs, our carefully constructed lies,
And forces us to face the darkness that within us lies.

The uncomfortable truth, especially when it comes from you,
Is met with resistance, with skepticism, and sometimes, with rue.
For you hold a mirror to their souls, exposing their flaws,
And they fear the judgment, the vulnerability it draws.

They shy away from the truth, for it demands change,
A willingness to grow, to rearrange.
It requires them to confront their deepest fears,
To step out of their comfort zones, to wipe away the tears.

The uncomfortable truth is a bitter pill to swallow,
For it reveals the cracks in the facade we carefully follow.
It challenges our ego, our sense of self,
And forces us to question our own mental health.

But my friend, do not be discouraged by their retreat,
For the uncomfortable truth is a gift, bittersweet.
It holds the power to awaken, to ignite a fire within,
To break free from the chains that bind, to truly begin.

Embrace the discomfort, for it is a sign of growth,
A catalyst for change, a testament to both.
For in the face of truth, we find liberation,
A chance to rewrite our story, our own salvation.

So, do not shy away from the uncomfortable truth,
For it holds the key to wisdom, to unearth the uncouth.
Speak it with compassion, with empathy and grace,
And watch as it transforms, as it leaves its trace.

For in the uncomfortable truth, lies the power to heal,
To bridge the divides, to help others feel.
So, be brave, my friend, and speak your truth,
For it is in the discomfort, that we find our truth.
