Misery's Little House

I read a kids book once

about a boy who was very sad.

He had lost everything

in the whole world

and misery had come to call,

rapping on his bedroom door,

waiting.

The book said

you have to meet with misery

and have that cup of tea together

even if it's bitter.

But it does not have to stay

with you.  

You can build for it a home

made of little sticks and mud

and love and acceptance.

When misery comes to call,

there it will stay

until you are ready to meet

and talk about everything.
