Wasted

In twilight's embrace, a sombre tinge I wear,
A tired spirit, burdened heart, wrought with despair.
With bated breath, this pen's ink begins to flow,
To apologise for the dreams I failed to sow.

My life, a canvas marred with strokes gone awry,
I stood as idle winds whispering a sorry sigh.
A vessel uncharted navigated through fate's mire,
I confess, dear world, for failing to inspire.

For those tender moments, I failed to embrace,
For love abandoned, and the joy I failed to trace,
A tapestry of lost opportunities and regrets,
Apologies echo through my soul's silhouette.

I apologise to dreams adrift, cast aside,
To passion extinguished and talents denied.
Streams of potential once coursing through my veins,
Now trickle, feeble echoes of untapped remains.

For the ambitions that wilted in the dawn's glow,
Their fragrant petals, forever lost, never to grow,
I mourn the symphonies I never dared to compose,
The verses are unsung, buried deep in shadows.

To the hands that lazily let chances slip by,
Excuses and procrastination - my feeble reply,
The hours squandered, moments wasted in vain,
I apologise, dear life, for my futile disdain.

To those I couldn't rescue with a comforting hand,
For words unsaid and hearts that can't understand,
A solace I couldn't offer, a listener I couldn't be.
For giving unwanted love to those who did not want it,
I apologise for my ineptitude, a failure you see.

Through the glass, I glimpse reminiscence's gaze,
A lifetime of faults woven into life's intricate maze,
To my weary body that endured each stumble and fall,
I apologise for not embracing my purpose's call.

A heart wasted waiting a lifetime to be filled by another, yet never worthy of their love.

Now as shadows lengthen, and the curtain descends,
I bid farewell to the dreams, hopes I couldn't mend.
Regrets, dear world, now etched upon my weary face,
I apologise a feeble man, wanting to leave without a trace.

May the echoes of my apology touch your soul,
A reminder to seize life's chances, once in control,
For if I've taught you anything, dear hearts, understand,
In this final chapter, redemption is at hand.
