Lost Love

You stand before me, your smiling face.
Those sparkling eyes called out to me.
No words were spoken, not a trace,
my heart was pounding, you set it free.
So many years have since passed by.
but the memory stays, in my mind.
That fateful moment, I cannot lie,
no explanation can I find.
You disappeared, you went away,
our love was lost and gone, it's true,
I didn't even beg you stay.
I didn't say that I loved you.
Now I contemplate the past.
why I ask, did our love fail to last?
