Unlocked Fanasy

In the routine's guise, with tools in tow,
A call to fix, a lock's woe.
A simple task, or so it seemed,
Yet, sparked a fantasy, I never dreamed.

There she stood, in grateful cheer,
Her smile, a sunbeam, crystal clear.
A hug so warm, in thanks, she gave,
A moment's bliss, my heart to save.

But in that touch, a story spun,
Of a kiss, under the setting sun.
A maintenance man, in love's sweet trance,
Led by fate's own playful dance.

The lock, an architect of unseen fate,
Crafted dreams that could not wait.
In my mind, our lips did meet,
In corridors, hidden and discreet.

Through the halls, a love tale wove,
In secret whispers, in shadowed cove.
A dance of passion, a tender scene,
In the depths of a daydream, so serene.

Yet, as I left, tool bag in hand,
The fantasy slipped, like grains of sand.
A text she sent, a playful line,
Suggested a kiss just like mine.

For I'm just the man who mends and fixes,
In a world apart from romantic mixes.
The lock, a portal to a dream so grand,
In the realm of 'if only', where we could stand.

A tale of love, born from a lock's twist,
In the heart of a maintainer, where fantasies exist.
But in life's script, lines drawn so clear,
We stay our course, with reality near.

About this poem

As a maintenance man (among other things), had a call at 1am to help a tenant who locked herself out. Not sure how, they are not supposed to. However it was done, and and she gave me a really big hug as a thank you.
