From the onset of your giggling,
till you started going to school
Since you started walking and riding your first bicycle,
you have always got my back.
Dear from the starting of your first school bag to giving you your first phone and laptop,
you appreciated me for all that.
Your all sorrows were mine and all your problems were mine.
I was the one who cuddled you and put close to my heart when you felt insecure.
All your warm hugs and morning cuddles made up my day.
For me you were my "Charming Princess."
Beginning with making your hair to getting you ready for school, from choosing your food to dress,
by helping you with your homeworks
guiding "My Angel" towards her destination.
Cheering up all your success and encouraging you when you lose and get upset.
Punishing those who have ever made you sad.
All these I did only for "My Girl."
Then dear why didn't you tell me about the other part of your life.
Can't I get the best"Charming Prince" out there?
If he ever broke your heart why didn't you come to just get cuddled up.
Why did you put your life at stake?
Is it so that "He loved you more than I did."
About this poem
This poem basically throws light on the father- daughter relationship. This man who sacrifices himself to make his child's dreams, aspirations come true and in return just expects his/her love, loyalty, and happiness in life. He expects his child to share all happy and sad moments with him. But when she loves someone and more than that when she is ready to sacrifice herself for the sake of the love of her life she perhaps forgets about her first love I.e. her dad. This poem is written on the perspective of a father's view how helpless he feels after he sees his child in pain. Somehow it shows the pain of a father when someone else is chosen over him. more »
