The Emergency room

A J Caron 1958 (Swansea)

The Emergency Room

I was in the ER, lying on a bed. They told me you have less than a minute, and you will be dead. I can hear the whispers of the doctors behind the screen. Save the lungs, the liver, and the spleen. I'm not stupid; I know what they mean. This has to be a dream, or I would have screamed. Please give me the key I need to open the door. I do not want to end up on the floor. I did wake up, but it was not a dream, and I was not floating down a stream. I had needles and lines running in and out of my veins. But I never forgot your name; it's still the same.
