Left Behind

I'm not really sure why my family and friends seemed to have disappeared,
At first I thought it was because I've moved to a new home, and new life, but that would be weird.
Weeks and months go by and from most of them, I seldom ever get a text or a call,
It truly makes my heart wonder sometimes if this world of people even care at all.
I've traveled all over for strangers all the way down and up the line to best friends,
Covering my world life with broken dreams living on a road that never seems to have any bends.
I've given everything I had to give, heart, mind, body, and soul, until there was nothing at all left for me,
Now it's like I've been put on a shelf, like an old unwanted what-knot collecting dust, tucked away for no one to see.
I know my health has gotten bad, to the point where I'm no fun to hang out with anymore,
I just never thought a lot of my friends and family would shut me out, leaving me behind life's door.
I guess that's that price you pay for being a guy who wears his heart out on the arm of his shirt,
Because most of the people in my life have taken every piece of it that they could take, just leaving behind the hurt.
I've been fooled by liars, thieves, family, friends, strangers, lovers, and even fell for lust,
Now it's left me setting behind these walls where there are only a couple of people left I trust.
I guess that's just the way it is when you have a big heart and to everybody you try to be kind.
You end up like I live my life now, felling lost, mostly alone, regretful, unwanted, unneeded, heart broken, and left behind.
