The Murder
I love your eyes when they're bloated beyond bursting, just like overripe grapes that have laid in the Sun too long.
The maggoty flesh of your cheeks is so unctuous the taste is truly divine.
I only wish that I could have been the one to end your life.
Instead, you lie next to the road the proverbial dead deer roadkill.
The truck made such a mess of the meat, and yet they have the nerve to call my group murderers.
If only they could see you the way that I see you.
So beautiful to look upon in death, the final breath must have been a mercy to you, and now my friends and I will use you all up. Not one piece will go to waste.
Not one minor morsel.
To us, you are the sweetest most beautiful thing we have ever seen.
I think I'll keep your finger bones is a Trophy, along with your shiny gold teeth.
I also love the fact that my face was the last thing you saw, before the light went out of your eyes.
It was truly wonderful to behold that ending.
If only I could have grasped that moment, and held it in my mind's eye like a picture to remember over and over.
Frame that precious moment in my memory forever.
Alas, all things tend to crumble to dust in the end.
I wonder if there was fear in your heart, the moment that I approached.
As your lights went out did you wonder how it would feel, as I stuck my face into yours, or were you waiting in anticipation, and fear for my fellows and I to devour you?
Oh, the joy you left for my murder, as we flew away with full bellies, to screech nevermore, nevermore, NEVERMORE!
About this poem
Not my normal type of poem. I made no attempt to rhyme with this one more of an open verse. I did try for an even flow. Hope you enjoy, and that it keeps you wondering for a moment.
