Moment Within

Kennet Benoit-Hutchins 1952 (Snowdon, Montreal, QC)

So it comes: a Maelstrom as a scudding cloud; guilt
In its darkness there is light: contrasted in my sin.
There an alchemy mixing atom to molecule: show yourself
This product is tarnished with savory maliciousness
That thunder: I’m deaf. Its sparks exposed all paths.

Innocence

What quickness lies beneath your skein?
Unleash your tangles to find my stolid tendrils.
Lurk as you will, your truth is so transparent
Pursue me at your peril for I am so: powerless
My boots are all aquiver but calm, I know you.

Denial

I do not invite: I encourage your sneak expelled
So I tread my path: no matter your desire.
I was injured and scarred: now I am healed.
I was a warrior: now I’m achingly harmless!
You’re the freezing cold; shunning the sun.

Acceptance

I’m hoarfrost; melting so to feed in the light.
I’m no longer hungry, for I am always sated.
Begone moment: I seek the hours of each day.
I cannot dance, I’ve no rhythm: so I prance in joy.
So fear me, I am free: Imagine your pain in a maze.

Prolapse

Our scars fade, smiles grown are shared defenses.
The clouding Maelstrom is stayed, sedately confused.

Wanting, yearning!

To slip down:

Within another moment.
