Time may tell

Roger McArthur 1978 (Cairns)

How the hands of time have bent all those minds.
Upon the dawn of the day we simply turn away.
All those memories we have and how we relive our crimes.
Those distant thoughts of wishing we left or decided to stay.

A sudden thump of the heart and deep breath that wakes me.
The stillness that brings hammering silence and the ongoing ring.
Tightness everywhere as my eyes open waiting to see what will it be.
A turn to the left or right either way it won’t change a thing.

Now that dawn is here the quiet is what I fear.
Still awake now and longing to see what tomorrow will bring.
Even now that hollow within still won’t bring a single tear.
My heart is empty now I serve no one not even a king.

A feeling of what is wrong and no longer what is right.
My mind no longer resting but racing for an answer within.
Reality hits to find me far away from those nights.
No more can this mind be at peace in its own skin.

Again that question that begs to have an answer.
That screaming silence asking how many more.
This illness to the mind that is far from cancer.
Time may hold the answer to this dreadful roar.

Strength now to hold on and hold tight.
A single breath or step is first to seek.
Never stop never fall and always fight.
This is life and its not time to meet.
