Darkness

Darkness is the absence of light.
The essence of reality,
Before we know wrong from right.
A reminder of mortality.
It’s dark in the womb;
It’s dark in outer space.
It’ll be dark in a tomb
When the shroud is on my face.

Darkness isn’t death;
It’s the gasp before the breath.
It’s the moment before the light;
The moment before insight.

The dark motivates us toward the light.
The dark gave birth to what’s bright.
Darkness is the natural way of life.
The difference between is as sharp as a knife.

Two sides of one command;
Two faces of one design.
Light and dark upon demand.
The only difference is perspective and time.
