Two paths

Faeeda 2007 (Cape town)

When i close my eyes
I see two paths
My life could take
In a span of 8 years

In the first
Im alone
Walking down a street
Of thugs

Im inlove with a drug addict
I work from Mondays to Sundays
While he openly
Gawks at plenty of females

Im a smoker in this one
And I've failed my grades
I work at a garage
And i have no friends

All the fake
Showed their true colours
And all the real
Left when they realised i wasnt worth it

In the second path
Im married
To a man who treats me right
To a man who thinks of me as bright as the starlight

He buys me chocolates
On a Tuesday morning
And brings me roses
On a friday afternoon

Most of my friends have left
By this time
They couldn't appreciate me the way i deserved
So i was confident enough to cut them off

And the ones who stayed
When i needed them the most
Took care of me
As i took care of them when they needed me

I dont know which path
I will take
Or whether itll be good
Or bad

But i hope i find the happiness
That ive craved for
Whenever,
And wherever i end up in
