The glass ceiling.

The glass ceiling

On my way over
I ran into patriarchy.
I think he was on his way to install yet another glass ceiling without any consent.

I don’t know why I am so surprised,
I mean, the women in my family have been complaining about him for generations.

Could someone please telephone him up.
Tell him that there is a glass ceiling inside my house, and I am crushing under its weight
Wait
Tell him that yesterday after I had completed every single one of my womanly duties.
You know, the way a good woman should.
Tell him I sat down
Tell him that I read the bible
Tell him that I had a revelation
Tell him that in the beginning
There was nothing.

Which is to say that when god said “let there be light”
What SHE meant was
Let there be woman.
Which is to say I am light
Which is to say I create and sustain life
Which is to say he is because I am

Could someone, please, telephone patriarchy
Tell him I say he is because I am.
