My Anxiety

Bailey Preston 2000 (Green Bay, Wisconsin)

my anxiety looks like a notebook
only endless scribbles replace the space
where I should be doing work
instead I draw a pit
An endless pit with blue ink
it stains my hands but I can't stop scribbling
my anxiety looks like a period at the end of a text
praying someone will notice the disruption in pattern
but knowing I hold unrealistic expectations for people
my anxiety looks like mania
getting from level 50 to 300 on helix jump in one night
not even realizing that the hours are slipping
my anxiety looks like a poem
words on a page because I won't say them out loud
my anxiety looks like a breakdown
the damn behind my eyes collapses in a swift motion
it all pours out until I can start rebuilding again
my anxiety can shape shift
it is not all panic attacks and hyperventilation
my anxiety has no name
