Endless Heartbreak

Endless Heartbreak

A heart shatters in complete silence.
No one heard the moment it erupted
Like a volcano, a painful burn continues to flow.  Future's trail forever corrupted.
Small pieces scatter through. As years continue to pass. The ache and the tears begin to slow as embers turn to ash.

Glaciers crack, setting free a smaller replica of them. Settling into its new space
Never to be whole again.
Shards of ice disappear, like the memories of the past. The sun's return steals the reminders but the pain always last.

A rock falls from the mountainside, taking with it a little more.
A trickling effect happens, one stone and then four.
It changes the structure, the strength to hold strong. Leaving you waiting anxiously for the next to come along.
It's like the days within a calendar, but tucked away in your mind.  An alarm set to remember specific moments in time.
Tiny fragments of a broken heart sprinkled throughout life.
They endlessly clutch to a hurt destined to never subside.

About this poem

I wrote this to describe the pain of losing someone. I lost my father when I was 10 years old. It's been 33 years Nov 4th 2023. Even though the pain eases. . Bits of the hurt stay scattered and show up throughout time. So it never ends.

Melissa A Jones

I began writing lyrics at the age of 8 after falling in love with country music. I would stand in front of my daddy singing my words, vowing that he would hear them on the radio someday. Devastatingly he passed a few short years later. I began writing more after his death as therapy. I was a child that was left to deal with my grief alone so writing became my coping mechanism. Words have always come easily to me and I try to explain emotion in detail. I enjoy being creative in various other ways as well such as decorating, crafting, and repurposing/refurbishing furniture. My motto is "Be Inspired to Create and Create to Inspire" more…
