By the River Shore

Upon the river's silent shore,
Near where my wife's remains implore,
I rest my head and let tears fall,
For all the love that we did call.

But few days lived, yet felt like years,
My heart ablaze with love's sweet tears.
Now fades the light, my soul in gloom,
As echoes of my whispers boom:

"Oh, love of mine, my heart's desire,
Why did the heavens steal your fire?
So young, so fair, yet taken soon,
My life bereft, a waning moon.

I search your eyes, but find no gleam,
Your lips so cold, it seems a dream.
Your gentle touch, your loving kiss,
All lost to me, a haunting wish.

My life now wanes, my hope dispelled,
A broken heart can never mend.
In this cold tomb, my tears descend,
My love for you will never end."

The river whispers, soft and low,
A mournful song of loves that go.
I close my eyes and let it flow,
My heart's lament, my endless woe.

Oh, love of mine, my sweetest dream,
Though lost to me, you'll ever gleam.
In every breath, in every beat,
Your memory, my love, so sweet.
