All Eyes On The Judiciary
Day and night we knight up to guard the robes.
For we believe the one in black Robes to do Right.
Oh, we know the wig has a space for a buy-Off.
We see it all with eyes as big as the Eagles.
Oh no, we see bats flying only in nights; And for this we turn Knights to guard our nights.
In darkness, they work and walk and gawk. But our ears have no door that we hear it all.
The ones in Robes and wigs do know the Law.
You have the case right in your hands. Robes and Wigs are to give justice, not prejudice.
All eyes on you for we shall let loose of nothing.
We call for Justice, for it is right and Just.
We call for What is right and not a fight.
We seek the Truth, for it's as clear as a crystal.
Oh Judiciary, We seek that you save us from druggies and criminals.
We are Nigerians and we seek the right justice.
We see it all, and shall not sleep nor slumber.
Give a date, so the bells of judgement shall ring aloud.
A stolen Mandate must be returned, for bats are never beautiful.
About this poem
It's a piece of Poetry that addresses the ill political games in an African country, Nigeria where expectations and pressure were on the judiciary to pass the right judgement. The poem calls out the judiciary and informs them of the awareness and attention of the masses put on them. With hopes flying in the sky, Nigerians expect that though the judiciary may be corrupt, open to Bribery from high political hands but their primary duty which is to give a JUST justice should prevail over every other thing. The poem was written at a time the judiciary needed to decide who had won the last presidential Election in Nigeria, following an announcement by the body responsible for Electoral practices (INEC), that a candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) had won the election. Other oppositions felt they needed to challenge the announcement hence the case in court. The poem is written as a successive Quatrain. A four like stanza Totalled to be five stanzas in all. more »
