A Brief Morning Shower in August

Babies sleep softly to the rhythmic drumming of raindrops on rooftops,
Cradled safely in their mother’s arms,
While fathers rise quietly to sip hot coffee and depart before the sun.

Glistening cars move slowly along city streets,
Slick from recent rain and old motor oil,
As water flows steadily along the curbs,
And spills into the gutters like miniature waterfalls.

The city begins to awaken, as it always does,
Stirring slowly to life in the pre-dawn darkness.
Soon, it will be sweltering like a sauna,
As busy as a bustling Bangkok street market—
Alive, hectic, humming with activity.

But for now, it’s tranquil and serene,
The streets cleansed by the all-too-rare summer shower.
