Rudy Mancke

death is a part of life,
as we all know,
a fact ingrained
within our mortal bones.
no labels
of good,
or bad,
or right,
or wrong.
such judgments fall beyond
our feeble and naive
understanding.
this world we occupy,
third rock from the sun,
exists within a system,
vast and complex,
and we, mere marks
on this cosmic plane,
are obligated by its laws,
by its eternal game.
death is an integral thread,
laced into the web
of continuation.
without its being,
the cycle would halt,
stagnant waters,
devoid of change or growth.
in this splendid
recycling mechanism,
where energy converts,
renews,
evolves,
passing becomes the hinge
on the door
which it all turns,
the catalyst for rebirth,
for life's return.

I'm just a regular, blue collar, working stiff who took an interest in writing poetry many years ago but until recently I haven't had a desire to share any with anyone or pursue publication. I'm an unpublished fork lift operator by night, and a day drinker by choice. I can be followed on Twitter @JoeStricklandSC more…
