The Mythical Rose

Edwin Tanguma 1966 (CA)

The Mythical Rose

There are many mythical things
That have been spoken of through the ages
Yet I will tell you of one
That is a secret
Handed down by the sages
It is said there is a rose
More beautiful than all others
And what makes it so unique
To distinguish it from all of the rest
Is the fact that when it’s fully grown
Its stem only has a single thorn
Why should this make it so special
Some might ask
Yet have they ever seen such a sight
To this day
Even I have sought it
Though as with all of those who have searched for it
Before me it remains
Ever elusive

P.s.Who has ever heard of such a thing???

About this poem

Well woman…I must mention Numbere 12:9-10…I don’t believe I have leprosy but I do believe I have an affliction which may apply to me being as white as snow…According to the tight knit friends and family in this utopian small town…I am suffering from nothing more than seasonal allergies…Well…Here is a list of my current symptoms…Sore throat and sinus problems for over 7 weeks…Additional symptoms that have been presenting themselves as of late…Persistent headaches that will not cease and the most recent…Blurred vision…I may not be a trained medical professional…But I believe my intuition is leading me to believe that something is rotten in Denmark…I don’t know how dire my situation may be…I have never heard any stories of anyone dying from seasonal allergies…Maybe I am making mountains out of molehills…I guess that only time will tell…After all…All of the lab tests performed for bugs have been in the normal range…And I even had a second opinion because I was weary of the first round of labs…So I hope you may come to understand why I must continue the urges I may have and continue to say no…I hope you don’t find this offensive…I learned a new word today…it’s rizz for what it may be worth…Oh well…I don’t know why Break Me comes to mind for this one…
