This Old Dog

Edwin Tanguma 1966 (CA)

This Old Dog

I feel that I am too old
To start all over again
I guess I’ll be like the dog
And I think she’ll be the sow
Who knew one could learn so much
By reading about others
Who have lived so long ago
It seems as if they’re alive
And well in this day and age
For those who choose to believe
In such antiquated things
This should never fade away
They make life much easier
Because they’ve already learned
The lessons we are learning
By reading about their lives
We can learn to live our own
Without making their mistakes
We should not have to suffer
Through that which they have suffered

About this poem

This one is one from a collection I call the dark years…I don’t know why I feel compelled to share these poems from this dark time in my life…But what must be must be…And I thought and believed that I was too old to start over back then…Oh Well…
