Nevena

What to say, Nevena?
I fell in love with you because of the little things
that are big in love:
because of your strong hug around my neck,
after which my head hurts;
because of your gaze like a scanner
with which you absorbed me;
because of your childish behavior
and the one, "Who came to me?";
because of your sad look,
when you came home from work early
and I was out for a walk and I had the key,
and your sentence when I arrived,
"Pal, I'm waiting like a dog";
because of your anger at me
because I didn't call you at 5 in the morning,
when I went on set;
because even though you were cold,
that evening on the bench at Kalemegdan
you didn't want to go to my apartment,
because the evening was so romantic...

Because of you, I also fell in love with Banjaluka
and the view of it from Banj,
from where I would recognize every street,
just as they would recognize my step.
They still remember and retell how,
after "Dance under the stars",
on the beach below the Obilićevo hall,
because you couldn't walk in heels anymore,
I carried you on my back,
from the intersection of Carica Milica and Car Lazar
to Starina Novak 4.

Although I am not a fan of tradition,
I loved our traditional picnics
and coffee from a thermos on the walls of the Castel,
as well as our walks near Vrbas.

You dragged me into the story,
that you weren't ready to enter yourself,
you gave me love
within your comfort zone,
because you weren't ready to mature
and make a cut to the past,
even though you said you needed me...

The most special declaration of love remained,
which a girl gave me
on the morning of reconciliation,
after the night we had our first fight,
"You snore and I hate you!"
Your lipstick also remained on the mirror,
in the bathroom in the old apartment,
from which I moved away.
The intention remained unfulfilled
to teach me to play bachata.
Wishes and dreams remained unfulfilled.
Our story also remained in the past.
