Blessed Epiphany (I'm Not Alone)

BLESSED EPIPHANY

When gazing at distant worlds,
I feel so alone.
So lost in the universe,
So cold,
So remote,
So far from home.
Yet out of the galaxy
A voice from afar
Rings out ‘cross the universe;
An air from a distant shining star.
A song full of hope,
An anthem of praise,
As though through a symphony
Someone is calling my name
To offer a warm and guiding light:
A sign, pointing God-ward through the night
Leading me to the One who finds in me
A place to call His home.
Blessed Epiphany,
I’m not alone!

About this poem

I wrote this lyric after hearing my wife faintly singing quietly to herself off in the distance at the other end of the house. This is actually a song lyric that I've sung many times in church, most notably during the Feast of the Epiphany.
