Forever Together

Lies to tell these days?
Are no longer 'little white' lies!
These lies have grown,
To birth entire neighborhoods.
From coast to coast.

Internet relationships,
Can be accused for starting that...
Discreet keyboard action.
Now...
Folks roam with their cellphones.
Relationships of all kinds,
Begin to end quick.

Few say it and do,
Forever together stay.
Faithful and devoted,
To whomever they vowed...
Their loyalty to without going through,
Regretting witnesses were invited...
To sit and listen,
What was said then to mean.
While a minister they both knew,
Bowed his head to wipe tears from eyes.
Streaming down cheeks.
As the few who view also cry.

And there are others,
At the alter smiling with pride.
As if tickled by a joke.
On their faces not to hide
To have captured that special someone.
While those who sat in pews,
Waited for either the groom or bride...
To admit to themselves.
The minister too and everyone else.
That all they wanted to have,
Had been a lavish ceremony.
That's it!
Before they vowed to do anything,
Not to mean forever together to vow.
Their secret plans were to split quick.

Since that forever together to say,
After everyone listening gets up.
And go their separate ways.
Is for an older generation.
The ones who love pomp and circumstance,
And every ceremony to celebrate there is.

But the young fast to live folks,
Don't mind getting to the point.

Today?
Bride and groom.
May be seen,
Jumping over brooms, mops.
And vacuum cleaners.
Or not to see...
Both joyfully turning to announce.
With wide smiles of delight.
Of expecting a baby.

However...
Declare their togetherness,
Had to them to promise first...
To exit through the doors
Disappearing out of sight.
Done to do,
To ask the witnesses and minister too...
For permission if what they do,
Would be alright.

Leaving no one to cry.
Or wipe a tear from an eye.
Yet...
All sighed with relief.
Standing up to cheer and applaud
Since many who had married.
To vow forever together they would stay.
Only did it for gifts anyway.
Having no intention to be with anyone,
For more than a year.
Maybe six months.
Or less is a death sentence.

So...
With a doing to pawn their gifts later.
After going through that happy couple thing.
Those gifts to pawn to pay for lawyers.
To leave something saved,
Done to take a trip anywhere.
To hopefully be forgiven.
By witnesses who knew,
Lies to hear heard to tell.
Like the ones told by those much older,
Fictioned to delude the truth?
Does not make a marriage long lasting.
Old folks too late know that's true.

And those invited to such a ceremony,
Enjoyed it but admitted,
Of wishing to reminisce to escape...
From mates.
Boring more than a seldom seen roommate.
That only use,
Places where they live...
To dump their cheating deceiving ways.

Saying 'sorry' about this and that everyday.
Then leave to claim they're going out.
To be with 'friends' to have met,
Somewhere in another town.
Yet...
Names to remember they make up to create.
Doesn't make a difference,
To the one left in a space alone.

So many are the excuses and alibis used.
And none creative.
Even a child would know this is true.
Roommates rehearse and this skill.
Spouses, lovers and easy to pick up others,
Could care less whose sheets...
They leave left wet.

But these days today we live in,
People are quick to say what's on their minds.
Leaving behind,
Lies and deceiving tricks.
Just to be with someone else...
Who also could care less,
About vows to make.
Or the names they claim to love.
Like a pet.
Coming out of the mouths those,
They secretly sleep around with!

'Your name is Rex, right?
I thought you told me,
You were not married.'

'I'm not married.
Where did you get that from?
You see a wedding band on my finger?
Or wrinkles on my forehead?
Being nagged by someone?'

'Well...
Who was that leaving your home last week?
Driving away as if leaving a fire.'

'Who told you where I live?'

'Your brother.'

'My brother?
I don't...

'He answered your home phone.
I found on the internet!'

'What?
Where was my wife.
I mean...
My aunt?'

'How should I know?
However...
I like your brother.
He has this warm romantic inviting voice.
Your brother and I exchanged numbers.
And said that you and your 'aunt',
Would always leave him alone in bed.
On the weekends especially.
To go shopping around somewhere!
And would never invite him.
That's not being 'family' at all.'

'Oh?
He did?
Tell me this...
Did say or mention,
Anything about where my 'aunt' went.
To go and shop around?
And his name?
I want his NAME!'

'No.
What do you mean, his name?
He's your brother.
Why would you want his name, Rex?'

'I mean his real name.
Everybody in the family calls him Bruce.
Or Bubba.'

'That's what he said, 'Bubba'.
But said...
After we meet,
I will call him, Daddy.
Why is that?
Is he that much older than you?
An older sibling who ordered you,
To do stuff around the house?'

'I'll ask my 'aunt'.
As soon as I return home from shopping.'

'What were you shopping for?'

'I'll tell you later.
I gotta go!'
