Transient Affections: The Empty Ringing

When trials besiege, the silence is stark,
No friendly voice reaching out through the dark,
Solitude's chill permeates with its sting,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

The battle is hard, each day a new test,
Exhaustion and doubt will not grant you rest,
But resilience and faith make the spirit sing,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

Take comfort in knowing you're not alone,
Others walk with you, though unseen, unknown,
Their silent support helps your soul take wing,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

When finally your efforts begin to pay,
And fortune starts flowing your destined way,
Bask not in glory, accolades don't mean a thing,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

For fickle is fate and luck but a wave,
The tides of life fluctuate, ebb and sway,
Today's fame and riches could be tomorrow's sting,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

So when favor finds you, greet it with grace,
But act with wisdom, keep an even pace,
Past hardship has lessons your spirit must bring,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

Cherish true bonds that weather the storms,
Cling to their love that keeps you safe and warm,
For when challenges rise, their comfort takes wing,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

Avoid false friends drawn only to power,
Fair weather flies when troubles overtower,
Fickle affections are just an empty ring,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

Discern true metal that trusts and believes,
See past façades to hearts that care and grieve,
Their compassion shone when your skies were still dingy,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

When acclaim graces you, stay true to your way,
Let integrity guide you in all that you say,
Walk the high road, refuse routes that false laurels bring,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

Keep perspective, know fortune oft turns,
Yesterday's pauper today's kingly crown earns,
Time levels all, no one stays the master or slave,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

As you climb higher, grasp hands, help others,
Comfort and cheer those sunk in life's bothers,
For only in lifting our kin can the spirit truly sing,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

Stay alert to impermanence, nothing lasts,
Neither failure nor glory eternally casts
Their spell upon mortals who brief seasons wing,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

Cherish ephemera, beauty fades fast,
Hold wonder gently, let go when it has passed,
Life flits by on gossamer moth-like things,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

Keep perspective when the wheel takes its spin,
Another's loss could foreshadow your win,
Comfort the grieving, share kindness in sorrow's sting,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

In all seasons pour love forth unrestrained,
Only in binding up the hurt is life's purpose gained,
Stay true to your path though rewards it does not bring,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.

When your star rises, remember well
Those in the shadows whom fortune befell,
Hold out a hand, let compassion heartily ring,
If your phone doesn't ring when you're struggling.
