A Trespass into My Soul : Terra Incognita of Hearts

"My dear, come enter this abode within" I whispered softly. "Part my ribs and see
What treasures can be found inside of me.
For I have kept a space for you alone,
A chamber just for us, our secret home."

You tilted back your head and looked askance
Unsure if you should take the moment's chance.
I reassured you with a gentle touch.
"Do not be afraid, this means so much
To finally bare myself to you, my love.
Now come inside, fly free as a dove."

Your fingers traced the contours of my form
And carefully pushed past bone and tissue warm.
I gasped out loud at your first probing touch
That seemed at once too much and yet not much.
We paused a moment, breathing hard, eyes locked.
Then plunged ahead, all carefulness unblocked.

You marveled at the mysteries you found
In the landscape of my inner ground.
The caverns and the canyons, mountains high,
Strange creatures lurking, peering with bright eye.
You wandered lost, then found your way again.
"Magnificent," you whispered. "Strange and wild terrain."

You gathered souvenirs to take away.
Small pieces of my heart in disarray.
A bit of lung, a slice of glistening liver.
Parts of me you'd cherish and deliver
Back home where you could look with lover's eye
At the fragments of my inmost, private sky.

I hemorrhaged rainbows watching you explore
The sacred places I had not shown before.
You cupped your hands and filled them with my light.
Then drank my blood like wine until dark night.
I bled myself dry giving you this gift.
Your stolen prize beyond all earthly worth.

And when you'd taken all you possibly could,
You left me pallid, shaking where I stood.
I thought I'd never recover from your raid,
The way you stripped me, left me flayed.
But as I healed I felt a vital spark.
For what you took lives on inside the dark.

So ransack me, my love, let nothing stop
Your hungry hands from stripping me bare, but know
The secret insides you unearth and take
Will resurrect once more, fully awake.
Go on, explore, let your passions flame and burn.
You'll never learn all there is to learn.

About this poem

This poignant poem delves into the vulnerability of opening oneself up entirely to another. It beautifully describes the intimate journey of inviting someone into the depths of the soul, allowing exploration and discovery. Each stanza unveils layers of emotions, trust, and the rawness of love as the narrator bares their innermost self to another. It captures the essence of both the exhilaration and the pain that come with such an intimate connection, portraying how even after being stripped bare, the spirit revives and continues to thrive within the darkness. The poem's depth lies in its portrayal of the bittersweet truth that while one may be vulnerable and exposed, the essence within remains resilient and forever enigmatic.
