TELEDEATHIC

In spirit, I commune
Thou man’s last gift

In spirit, I harken
Thou living dust

I’m a bleeding heart
With a protruding soul

Ooze out your plight
A busy wind has no time to unwind

Tell me-
Why do you cut a bud
In a glee mood
Lacerating a deep incision
On the weary, wet stem?

Every ripe fruit
Has a covenant
With the soil
The dangling young
At the mercy of fowlers
Soon kiss the dust

Tell me-
Why must I sleep
To your eerie lullaby?

I follow the script
Etched in the spirit
Of every living dust

Tell me-
Unwanted unexpected guest
Must you be?

Behold, I’m diligent
I besiege my prey.
Those who seek me
Slap my wrath
And bedraggle my ego
My wand miss them
I…

But they still taste your wine!
No!
Yes!
They are drunk with folly
And dance beyond their jolly
And landed in my pouch
For those who seek me
Will elude me
I’m death,
Every mortal’s debt!

Tell me-
Why must every man
Drink your orange of tears?

I’m nature’s agent
I’m to deplete sapiens
And replete mother bed
With sapiens slough.
That’s my call
I’m death
Every mortal’s bet!

Tell me-
Who escapes your fury?

Those I snuff their lamp
In the light of the Lamb
Escape my burning fury
And conquer my spirit

Tell me-
Why are you everywhere?

I knock at doors
And feast people with epidemics
Some love my song of war
Others can’t resist my noose
Others kiss me passionately
Through lethal substances
Yet, myriads of the blind
Honour me with ignorance and negligence
I’m never short of victims.

Tell me-
Where I’m I?
How do I go home?

You are in my haven
I’m your wedge between
Your only door to rest,                                                                                                                                             Your only door to peace
Your only door out of here.

About this poem

I wrote this poem when I lost my dearest sister. I went on a spiritual dialogue with death and death exposed many reasons behind the death of people.

Joseph Adesanya

Although I am a high school teacher in a city, I grew up in a village. As the last child of my family, I had no one to play with. This made an introvert. I talk to myself with my poems and this always makes me happy. But, as a teacher, I now have a mixed personality. more…
