Love Story

There are times when the despair takes over my mind.
I start to read to much between the lines,
Does he love me or does he not?
Why won’t he tell me how he feels.
One minute I am between his arms and the next he pushes me away.
I love him dearly but the smile on his face does not tell me the inner workings of his mind.
I come to a stop sign and he sleeps away the demons we are leaving behind.
The anxiety continues as I make my way down Auburn Lane.
We come to a crossroads, and he opens his eyes.
He stares at me with a look of longing but deep down I can tell that he is hurting.
We have both been on a journey to get over our parents’ feud that started over a Brussel sprout stew.
We make our way to the little cottage house, and it is here that I know he loves me and I him.
We prepare to enter the dwelling and make our vows complete.
I stand in a white dress, with his hand in mine.
I hear the words, “Do you take this man to be your husband?”
In this moment I know that we were meant to be.
We are Romeo & Juliet but with a happy ending.
No longer do we live by our parents rule but by our own.
We are now one and need only one another to make it through.
This is the love story of me and you.
