Hanging on a wing and a prayer

lila lim 1955 (syracuse)

Eggs seem like their made of gold,
Way to expensive to even hold.
One package of meat must stretch to three meals,
Grocery shopping is like playing, " Let's Make A Deal!
It's a roll of the dice to pump gas,
Almost four dollars a gallon, numbers fly fast.
I guess I'm driving on fumes again,
Another hard week my friend.
The only thing on overflow is my bills in my mailbox,
Each time it's a bigger shock.
Used to be I can pay them all,
Now its a game, which one to pay, which one to wait,
My home is the only joy i have left,
The one thing I do not regret.
People around me loosing house and home,
No one can afford to live alone.
The only thing free, is the air we breathe.
Sooner or later they will tax that too.
We need another source for our fuel,
And quit depending on others for their supply,
Or one by one our families won't survive.
