Am I forgotten

Candi Bailey 1982 (Houma, Louisiana)

Am I forgotten in this vast array,
Lost in the shadows, unseen day by day?
Do my whispered dreams and hopes not matter,
In the catasophy of life's endless chatter?

In the depths of silence, I often wonder,
As the world spins on, do I begin to wither?
Have my laughter and tears faded away,
Like footprints vanishing on sand by the bay?

Amidst the chaos, do my footsteps tread,
In the minds and hearts of those I've once led?
Or in memories, am I just a faint illusion,
A fleeting gust of wind, a mere confusion?

Do my words ring true within echoing halls,
Or do they vanish like whispers behind walls?
Have my passions and virtues been swept aside,
Lost in the crowd, where they once stood with pride?

Am I remembered for the love I have shown,
For the countless kindnesses that I have sown?
Or am I cast aside, left to fade and decay,
A flower once vibrant, now wilted and gray?

But deep in my soul, there's a flickering flame,
A reminder that I am not just a name.
For even if the world may not always recall,
My existence, my essence, I still stand tall.

I have left an imprint, a mark on this earth,
A symphony of moments, of joy and of mirth.
Though time may erode and memories fade,
I refuse to be forgotten, my legacy remade.

So, as the days pass and years come to be,
I'll live with purpose, embracing my journey.
For in the end, it matters not what they say,
For in my heart, I'm remembered every day.
