A world full of light

24th August, u sat on your bed

Trying to reach out,

I raised my hands

But you searched in the other direction.

You looked here and there

Looking a little lost

A whimper falling from your lips,

A tear falling from your eyes

Yet I didn't understand why.

You blinked rapidly,

I came forward,

I said hey

And you flinched

Yet I couldn't stop

I said "Hazel?"

You said "who?"

I felt my heart break

Yet I continued,

A lot of light in your face

But all you saw was darkness.

It took me a while to understand,

That your vision was gone

Yet I kept trying to hold your gaze.

Was this what they went through?

Every single day?

Was this what they felt?

Did this always stay?

A world full of light,

Yet full of darkness.

Another oath to the blind

Let us raise our voice,

Help them walk,

Use their sticks to fight

A world full of light,

Yet full of darkness

About this poem

The poem speaks about how visually disabled people fight huge battles due to their vision loss. This not only affects them but others around them too.
