Platonic

William Treth 1989 (Seaford, DE) – 2021 (New York, New York)

She said we were Platonic.
I heard it from a friend.
I wonder if she'll know how that feels to hear.
I thought maybe what we had was real but it seems were just Platonic.
I thought we would be great.
Standing together happy in the world.
I learned about your past and you heard about mine.
Both of didn't no how emotions worked yet with her I felt something.
But I don't know why I should complain or feel this pain since were Platonic.
Us doing circles till 2am talking about each other.
Did that mean anything to you? Or were we just being Platonic?
On the roof the moon light made you look like someone in a dream as the cool breeze glazed over us.
But who cares about all that right?
Since we were just Platonic and for her that's all right.
We lied to them and said we had kissed.
Even though we were faking it felt so real.
I thought maybe you wanted it to be real.
But you wish for us to just be Platonic.
Platonic is a word that used to feel normal however the word echoes in my mind over and over again.
I thought we were something more but were just Platonic and nothing more.
