If I Went Deaf

If I went deaf, I would adjust
To life without each sound.
I still would do the things I must
And I would get around.

I also would try hard to learn
To sign with A.S.L.*
I know it's letters and I yearn
To know the words as well!

The Deaf Community is not
Unlike the ones who hear.
They laugh and cry; they think each thought;
With dreams like us each year!
